AT TWELVE

I just wrote a five page paper on the message and purpose of the third photograph. They are from Sally Mann's book At Twelve: Portaits of Young Girls, which you showed me in your bedroom. The girl in the second photo does not want to be near her mother's boyfriend and Mann was forced to crop the elbow out because the girl refused to move closer. A few months later, her mother shot the man in the face for doing indecent things to her daughter.
